ECoach

Project Overview

ECoach allows instructors and staff to provide personalized, tailored support and messaging for students, particularly in larger classes where 1 on 1 encounters and guidance can be sparse.

The Problem

Advisors were in need of a new tool to track their students because the “Student Explorer” tool, which was previously used to monitor students, was being removed.

Our Goal

Our goal was to provide a centralized place for advisors to keep an eye on their students, allowing them to intervene when necessary.

The Results

The Advising Dashboard

After many user interviews and conversations amongst designers, advisors, and developers, we created an Advising Dashboard that would allow advisors to sort their students into groups. These groups were based around rules that advisors could customize. They could also star specific students to watch and see a feed showcasing students with recent updates.

Students will fall into one of the three groups: In Danger, At Risk, or On Track.

Student Profile

The student profile provides a more detailed look at individuals and their programs, courses, etc.

Using these designs as a base, the team was able to further iterate upon the work and create a successful platform for advisors to effectively keep track of their students!

ECoach Advising is now being used by advisors across multiple departments at the university.
